"Америка. Ее прошлое" и "Америка Ее настоящее"

Обобщающий урок по теме "Америка. Ее прошлое"

Данные уроки были проведены в первой четверти шестого класса по учебнику И.Н. Верещагиной, О.В. Афанасьевой для IV класса школ с углубленным изучением английского языка, и являются обобщающими уроками по теме "Америка". Уроки проведены парой, но возможно их проведение и по одному академическому часу.



Урок был дан в компьютерном классе с целью:
а) повышения творческой активности учащихся;
б) интенсификации учебного процесса;
в) использования передовых технологий в обучении;
г) повышения эффективности восприятия материала, а следовательно эффективности обучения;
д) повышения интереса учащихся к изучению иностранного языка.

Тип урока: обобщающий.

Тема урока: Америка. Её прошлое.

Цели урока:
1. Учебный аспект: систематизация знаний учащихся о стране изучаемого языка, совершенствование устной речи. Организовать практику в чтении, с предъявлением текста путём аудирования.
2. Социокультурный аспект: приобретение знаний о истории страны изучаемого языка (об открытии Америки, Дне Благодарения, жизни первых поселенцев).
3. Развивающий аспект: развитие логического мышления, внимания, памяти, формирование навыков межличностного общения, обучить новому методу учебной деятельности.
4. Воспитательный аспект: поддержание у детей интереса к изучению английского языка, воспитание в духе мира, доброжелательного и уважительного отношения к истории других стран.

Оснащение урока: выставка сочинений о Колумбе, кроссворд по теме "Первые поселенцы Америки", подборка картинок на тему "Еда первых поселенцев", маска индейца, костюм ковбоя.

ХОД УРОКА

I. DISCOVERY OF AMERICA.

The theme of today's conclusive lesson is "America" "It's past". We shall remember and speak about all interesting facts which you have studied and I hope that you will know some new facts about America.

The main points of our lesson are:
1. DISCOVERY OF AMERICA
2. THE FIRST ENGLISH SETTLERS
3. THANGSGIVING DAY
4. NATIVE AMERICANS
5. WILD WEST

Let us begin our conversation. Now look here: you see the date on the blackboard. Do you know what does this date mean? Why does it play a very important role in an American history?



S1. In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered America.

T. I hope you remember the poem about him. Who will tell us this poem?

Let's remember Columbus
In fourteen hundred and ninety - two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue ...
Let's sing together this old song
About the voyage that took him long,
About the sailors, those strong brave men
Let's sing and remember them all again.

T. Very well, thank you. Sit down. I have got some questions about Columbus. Answer them.

1. Where was Columbus born?


2. Where did he live?
3. What was Columbus profession?
4. Who gave Columbus money for his voyage to the West?
5. Where did he have to go?
6. Why did he decide to sail west?
7. Did Columbus find India? Was the discovered land a new land?
8. When did he do his second voyage?
9. Did he ever land on the mainland of North America?

T. Students, take the cards number 1. Your task is to agree or to disagree with the following statements. (см. в приложении)

T. Now, dear guests and students look here, please. You can see an exhibition of compositions about C. Columbus. Out students have written them while they were studying the theme Columbus.

II. THE FIRST SETTLERS. We see another date on the black board. Do you know what important event took place this year?

S. The first English settlers came to America.

T. I have a crossword, which will help you to know more about the first settlers.

We shall continue our lesson talking about the life of the first settlers. You will work on a computer. And your task is to put all the words in a right order. There you will find sentences, but all the words are mixed up and you have to put them in a right order.

III. THANKSGIVING DAY.
T. As you know the new harvest was very good. The white settlers and Indians decided to make a feast. They prepared a great number of food. Your task is to find as many words in this card as you can. (см. в приложении)

IV. NATIVE AMERICANS.
The next point of our lesson is Native Americans. We call Indians Native Americans. Answer the question: Why do we call them Native Americans?

S1. They were the first people to live in America.

T. Now, Students we have got an opportunity to speak with one of them. We have a guest. He is ready to answer all your questions.
(Выходит ученик, одетый в маску индейца, учащиеся задают ему вопросы о жизни индейцев.)

T. Listen to the text, which is called Pocahontas. (Учащиеся слушают текст о Покахонтас и смотрят отрывок из мультфильма о ней.)

V. THE WILD WEST.
(Выходит ученик в костюме ковбоя. Учащимся даётся задание вспомнить и рассказать о традициях Дикого Запада, описать традиционную одежду ковбоев, их образ жизни.)

Your home task is to read the text about Washington, Ex. 5, p. 375 - GOODBUE.

Обобщающий урок по теме "Америка. Ее настоящее"

Цели урока:
1. Учебный аспект: систематизировать знания учащихся о современной жизни Америки. Организовать практику в аудировании, говорении.
2. Социокультурный аспект: знакомство с повседневной жизнью и основными чертами характера Американцев, их столице и символах.
3. Развивающий аспект: развитие логического мышления, обучение новому методу учебной деятельности.
4. Воспитательный аспект: воспитывать умение слушать, воспитывать уважение к обычаям и традициям другой страны, формирование потребности и способности понимать образ жизни Американцев.

Оснащение урока: картинки с изображением символов Америки, фильм о столице Америки - Вашингтоне, наушники для прослушивания текста "Средний Американец", запись Американского Гимна.

ХОД УРОКА

I suggest to begin our lesson with a very popular American song "We shall over come".



I. AMERICAN SYMBOLS.

Every country has its own symbols. America has its symbols too. Look here and name them. Our students have prepared some reports about them. The first story is about an American flag.


(Учащиеся по очереди рассказывают заранее подготовленные сообщения о символах Америки. В заключении звучит гимн Америки.)

II. AMERICAN CHARACTER.

T. Listen to the text about an average American. And after listening you will answer the questions.
(Учащиеся одевают наушники и слушают текст).
1. How many hamburgers does the average American eat a week?
2. When does the average American go to bed?
3. How long does he watch TV every day?
4. The average American takes a shower every day, doesn't he?
5. How often does he go to the dentist?
6. How often does he go to the cinema?
7. How often does he go to a fast food restaurant?

T. Our students have prepared some dialogues. Look and listen to the scenes from the life of Americans and say some words about an American way of life. (см. приложение).

S1. Often people begin to ask you personal questions or start telling you about themselves.

S2. When Americans meet people they often shake hands.

S3. When they meet relatives they hiss them on the cheek.

S4. Pot luck dinners are very popular with Americans.

S5. Usually guests arrive 10 or 15 minutes late - this gives host time to finish preparations.

S6. Americans like to get together and to have parties.

T. So Americans like holidays very much. And the following task is to match the holiday with the picture. Go to the computers and let us work. (Задание выполняется на компьютере).

POCAHONTAS

The first and the most famous Indian friend of the white settlers was a young princess named Pocahontas. She was only 12 years old when English settlers came to Jamestown in Virginia in 1607. Captain John Smith, who was one of the leaders of the expedition, wrote that he owed his life to Pocahontas. According to this story Pocahontas saved his life. Pocahontas often visited the English colony and brought food and other gifts to the colonists who needed much help. She was very kind to the settlers. But they did not act in the same way. Once when she was 17 she was kidnapped by the settlers.

In the following year Pocahontas married one of the white colonists and later traveled with him to England. There she was introduced to English Queen. She lived some time in England, but at the age of 21 she died suddenly of smallpox. She had a son and many Virginians today say that they are his descendants. The story about Pocahontas is well known to most Americans.

WASHINGTON

1. Washington D.C., the capital of the USA is a city of symbols.


2. The Capitol is where the U.S. Congress meets. The White House is the home of the president. The Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials were built to honor two of the U.S. greatest presidents.
3. The Washington monument was built in honor of the first American President George Washington.
4. Washington is a city of institutions: the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, the Federal Bureau of investigation and the Library of Congress. The Supreme Court Building houses the highest court in the land.
5. There are a great number of parks and museums in Washington. These parks and museums attract a great number of tourists.
6. The national Zoological Park, created in 1887, exhibits more than 4000 wild animals. The Smithsonian Institution founded in 1846 is the largest complex of museums in the world. The national Air and Space museum has more than. 9 million visitors each year. It's the most popular country's museum.
7. Washington D.C. is also a city of art. The most famous are the National Gallery of Art, the museum of Modern Art and many others.
8. The Folder Shakespeare Library has the world's largest collection of Shakespeare's work.
9. Washington is also a city of memorials to military history. Visitors can pay their respects to the heroes of Vietnam War, the Second World War. You see Vietnam War Memorial, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
10. Virginia is a suburb of Washington. Alexandria is a historical quarter of Virginia, where you can see historical homes and elegant shops.
11. Georgetown is one of Washington favorite places. There you can visit Embassy Row, eat at Georgetown's many fine restaurants and walk it's tree lined streets.
12. And don't forget to visit mount Vemon, George Washington historic stately home.
13. Visiting Washington D.C., the capital of the United States will be one of your most memorable places in America.
